Our History<\/span><\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text width=”650px”]The Azienda Agricola Bosco De \u2018Medici was born in 1996, when the two families Palomba and Monaco decided to share the passion of grandfather Raffaele for land and vineyards of Vesuvius. Ancient crops, composed largely of vines ungrafted old pre-phylloxera, supplemented later by vineyards planted in the eighties. A centuries-old tradition evidenced by the discovery in the vineyard of a \u201cterm\u201d boundary stone on which is carved the letter \u201cM\u201d with a crown (then used as the company logo). Studies that followed confirmed that those lands were owned by a branch of the noble Florentine dynasty of the Medici, who moved into the Kingdom of Naples in the mid-sixteenth century and in the centuries following did its best to modernize and improve the methods of cultivation and quality of Vesuvian wines. An important heritage that the company has collected and carried out with dedication over the years, taking care of the land and producing quality grapes that, from the harvest in 2014, decided to make wine on their own.

Vineyards and Grape Varieties<\/span><\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″ el_class=”vc_col-sm-pull-6″][vc_column_text width=”650px”]And this is the starting rule that every good wine producer knows he can not escape and is the directive that has always guided the work in the vineyard of our Company. Decades of care and commitment in our lands have produced grapes of superior quality, required and used for years by the best wineries in the area around Vesuvius and now raw material for our wines.
\nThe vineyards are divided into various plots, they are located in the municipalities of Terzigno, Boscoreale and Pompei and are all planted with indigenous varieties bred with technical espalier and awning. Piedirosso, Aglianico, Falanghina and Coda di Volpe (also called \u201cCaprettone\u201d) are the varieties we produce and that best represent the essence of our land.
\nGiven the uniqueness of the land, of volcanic origin and therefore particularly sandy and rich in minerals, most of the vines is a \u201cfrank foot\u201d, immune to the parasite because of phylloxera, and in many cases has an age that exceeds the century of life.
\n\u201cLa Rotonda\u201d (\u201cThe Round\u201d) is the main and largest vineyard. It takes its name from its circular shape and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples goes so far as to municipalities in the province of Salerno. Devote particular attention here to the cultivation of grapes Piedirosso (locally called Per e\u2019 Palumm or Palumbina for the cluster that resembles a foot of Columbus), from which comes our Pompeian IGT \u201cPompeii\u201d and the Lacryma Christi Rosso \u201cLavarubra\u201d.
\nNot far from here, in the municipality of Terzigno, there is the vineyard of the \u201cColonnello\u201d(\u201cColonel\u201d). Smaller as extension, is so named because in the middle of last century it was used by an army colonel to spend its licensing periods surrounded by nature and tranquility. Here cultivation is mainly concentrated on the Coda di Volpe (also called \u201cCaprettone\u201d), white grape variety that is used in the production of our Lacryma Christi Bianco \u201cLavaflava\u201d.
\nDescending into the valley we find the vineyard of the \u201cVecchio Casale\u201d (\u201cOld House\u201d), in the municipality of Boscoreale, where crops Piedirosso and Aglianico with technical espalier prevail.
\nLast but not least, it is appropriate to say, in the town of Pompeii is the small vineyard \u201cPompeii\u201d. On the recent plant, is located on the border with the ruins of the ancient city, a few meters from the Roman Amphitheatre.
